SaddlebagSecure by Brukus

Ordering/shipping: Product is easily ordered through the Brukus website: www.brukus.com.
Minor annoyance is the need to use PayPal rather than a credit card, but understandable for a small company keeping costs down. No big deal. Got order confirmation immediately, and shipping confirmation shortly after. (Brukus note - you can use any credit card through Paypal and do not have to have a Paypal account.)
Ordered late in the day on a Monday (about 3:30pm EDT).
Package arrived on Thursday. Very fast shipping.
Packaging: The product comes nicely packaged, with instructions, a nice "thank you" letter, and a sheet of information about other products. The component parts are neatly put together into
functional groups, rather than just being a bag of loose parts. The parts all appear very high quality. Included is the security torx
tool to install and remove the security bolts.
Installation: So straightforward as to not require the instructions that are included. After removing the bags, simply use a small screwdriver to pry off the OE spring clips from the mounts. Be careful that the
screwdriver or other implement of destruction does not slip and damage adjacent paint, etc. Just take a bit of time with the removal. Once OE is removed, simply snap the new threaded Brukus clips onto the mounts, then replace the bags and thread in the security bolts.
Tighten the bolts (not too tight) and you are done.
Finished product: The result of your efforts is a very clean installation, with the security bolt heads on the inside of the bag, and the threaded clips and bolt ends on the back of the bag mounts. This set up makes it impossible to remove the locked bag, as some have experienced
with the stock spring arrangement. It also makes it unlikely that a casual thief would be able to remove the unlocked bag. Obviously, nothing keeps a thief from carrying a security torx tool of
the right size, but if they are that sophisticated they will probably steal your whole bike rather than just the bags! Also, as forum member Ichiban pointed out, this arrangement will keep your bags from accidentally coming loose and skidding down the road.
Final thoughts: The Brukus SaddlebagSecure product is fast and easy to get, the sellers are nice folks, and the product is exactly as advertised. I initially wondered if I was overpaying to spend $30 for a security torx bolt, but after seeing the product I realize that much of what you are paying for are the precisely manufactured threaded clips that the bolt screws into. They are really well made.
It is certainly possible to go to Home Depot and get
some parts for a DIY version of this, but it will not have
the security or the elegance of the Brukus solution. A
great product.
